Personalised Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) confinement is a period of post-partum care that follows the principles of TCM with a personalised a holistic approach that focuses on helping the mother’s body to recover from childbirth and return to its pre-pregnancy state.

TCM confinement typically lasts for 28 days, but it can be longer or shorter depending on the individual’s needs. During this time, the mother will follow a special diet, avoid certain activities, and receive TCM treatments, such as acupuncture, massage, and herbal medicine.

However, with EMW Personalised Confinement Herbal Package, herbs prescribed is supplementary to the 28 days confinement herbal soups. It is designed to be brewed into a decoction and to be drank separately outside of meals. 

Therefore, confinement herbal soups are catered more towards general body constitution while our Herbal Package herbs are more catered to individual body types hence being more potent as a result.

  • A personalised TCM confinement consultation: This consultation is used to assess the mother’s individual needs and develop a personalized treatment plan. The consultation is typically conducted at weeks 32-36 of pregnancy, so that we can get a good understanding of the mother’s overall health and constitution, as well as any specific concerns she may have.
  • 28 days of personalized TCM herbs: The mother will be prescribed a personalized herbal formula to help her recover and promote her overall health for all 28 days of confinement. The herbal formula will be tailored to the mother’s individual needs, based on her body constitution and any specific postpartum concerns she may have. The herbs will be vacuum-packed and delivered to the mother’s doorstep, for her convenience.

Additional Confinement Tips

  • Be honest with your TCM physician about your needs and expectations. The more information we have, the better we can tailor your treatment plan to your individual needs.
  • Eat a healthy diet. TCM emphasizes the importance of eating a healthy diet, especially during confinement. Be sure to eat plenty of nutritious foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Avoid processed foods, sugary drinks, and excessive caffeine.
  • Get enough rest. Confinement is a time for healing and rest. Be sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep per night. If possible, take naps during the day.
  • Avoid strenuous activity. Avoid strenuous activity during confinement. This includes heavy lifting, exercising, and having sex.
  • Take care of your emotions. Confinement can be a challenging time emotionally. Talk to your loved ones about your feelings and seek professional help if needed.
