Biography

Ee Wen graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) with a double degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Biomedical Sciences (Hons) in 2016. Upon graduation, she worked in a private clinic setting, treating multiple patients with musculoskeletal disorders, respiratory disorders, gynaecological conditions, gastroenterological disorders, etc.

With a strong interest in the fertility aspect of reproductive disorders, she decided to accept the scholarship awarded by the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) to pursue a 3-year full-time Master’s Degree of Integrated Clinical Medicine, with specialisation in Gynaecology, from BUCM. She has continued to grow professionally under the tutelage of Professor Wang BiQin, the Chief Physician of the department of Gynaecology at DongZhiMen Hospital, who is also the head of the national inheritance studio of Professor Guo ZhiQiang (one of China’s leading experts in gynaecology of Chinese Medicine).

Aside from gynaecology, she was also trained under experienced mentors from departments of A&E, respiratory, dermatology, and radiology and obtained Practicing Practitioner’s Qualification issued by the State Council of PRC during her master’s studies.

Fertility and Women’s Health Issues

With a fundamental background in Biomedical Sciences and a keen interest in women’s health, Ee Wen attaches great importance to the understanding of gynaecological diseases by integrating eastern and western medicine, for maximum treatment benefits. During her time in the private clinic, she had helped a number of patients to regulate their menstrual cycle, relieve symptoms of PMS, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, regulate and stabilise hormone levels, and support the fertility process as well as provide pregnancy support, by applying different TCM treatment modalities, such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, moxibustion, and tuina.

Her Master’s Degree in Gynaecology (TCM) gave her the opportunity to better understand the challenges and issues surrounding reproductive health around the world and to enhance her knowledge and clinical skills in the use of TCM in assisted reproductive technology (ART). As part of her clinical education, she had worked with women of all ages with endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), premature ovarian failure (POF), recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA), irregular periods, abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), menopausal syndrome, etc. She believes women’s health is intimately related to menstrual health and her approach to the treatment of women’s health issues focuses on identifying and adapting to the wax and wane of yin, yang, qi, and blood throughout the menstrual cycle.

Endocrinology & Metabolic Disorders Management

Through her years of clinical experience and focusing on female reproductive endocrinology during her master’s studies, she had helped a number of men and women for a variety of endocrinology and metabolic problems, such as hyper/hypothyroidism, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, etc.

Musculoskeletal Disorders and Pain Management

Having worked in a private clinic where Ee Wen worked closely with physiotherapists, she had helped patients to recover from a wide range of conditions, including ligament sprain, muscle strain, tendonitis, herniated disc, trigger finger, carpal tunnel syndrome, and joint pain, among others. Her comprehensive expertise in acupuncture, tuina, cupping and herbal medication had allowed her patients to recover optimally, especially with chronic pain disorders.
